Content description

This collection comprises works on Ancient Egyptian, Akkadian, Sumerian and Hittite, as well as all other languages written in cuneiform. But this class does not include works in or on Ancient Iranian languages, which are classified separately. Nor does it include works on the languages of Ethiopia and Ancient South Arabia. Note that this description applies only to publications on the languages and literatures of ancient Near Eastern cultures. Works on the archaeology of the Near East are to be found in other collections within the library.

The collection has been expanded systematically through purchase.

The collection includes a good number of works on Akkadian and Sumerian.
