The collection consists of over 8,000 volumes in all the major European languages, additionally includes some material in Hebrew and Arabic languages.
History and development
The collection was developed to support the subject and research interests of the museum.
The collection covers the major artistic traditions of Asia focussing particularly on China, India, Japan, Korea, Central Asia, Persia/Iran, Turkey and Egypt. The collection also includes a selection of Islamic bindings and oriental manuscripts.

The library's collection includes European language material on the major artistic traditions of Asia. The collection is accessed by subject via the library's catalogues, the collection as with other holdings in the NAL is a closed access reference collection.
