The relevant collections may be divided into those which are currently listed in the Library's OPAC, i.e. the Indian Empire collection (6,000 items) and the Voyages and travels collection (10,000 items), the Haskalah collection (900 items), the Marmorstein collection (6,000 items); and those which are not yet included in the Library's OPAC, i.e. the Japanese collection (200 items). History and development
A number of collections were acquired in 1901 as part of Mrs. Rylands' purchase of the Crawford Collection. Other collections have been acquired since, notably in the 1970s.
Haskalah; classical Rabbinic texts; military, colonial and diplomatic history; travel.
General arrangement and access regulations
These materials are interspersed throughout the closed-access collections in the Special Collections Division of the JRULM, which is located on Deansgate in the city centre.
