History and development

From 1968 until 1991 there was a Centre for South-East Asian Studies at the University of Kent. Because of changes to the organisation of the University the Centre of South-East Asian Studies was disbanded in 1991 and teaching staff drawn back to their academic departments. Within some departments - notably Anthropology - there remains a strong interest in the region. Monographs are stlii purchased, though on a smaller scale, and some periodical subscriptions are current.
