Content description

General collection of books and serials related to the teaching and research interests of the Politics Department.

History and development

The University now offers the Master of Chinese Studies programme which means the existing modest collection in Chinese studies is expanding quite rapidly. Concentration is being given to Chinese society, politics, economy and business. At present research and teaching covers contemporary Chinese politics, East Asian politics, and the politics of the Asian Pacific so collections are being built up in these areas.

Chinese politics will become more of a strength in the future.

Co-operative agreements

The University of Glasgow is a member of the new Scottish Centre for Chinese Studies, a consortium which includes the Universities of Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Abertay. Material for the Master of Chinese Studies programme is purchased and housed in the respective libraries.
