In general, basic reference works including dictionaries and grammars, with some literature anthologies/collections. Little older material except for Sanskrit studies.
History and development
Part of a general collection, acquired in support of teaching/research (Divinity/Religious Studies; comparative linguistics) or by donation from late C19 onwards.

General arrangement and access regulations
Classified, open access arrangement using GUL local classification; the enumeration for languages is based on LC. Older, unclassified material is being/has been transferred to the Historical Collection (remote store). Periodicals are arranged by broad subject classification (e.g. Oriental) and then by title.
