Content description

Good general collection of scriptural texts and studies. Other areas (e.g. Holocaust studies) also well represented.

History and development

Older material acquired by purchase and donation during C18 and more systematically from late C19. Regular purchases made for Divinity/Religious Studies in all areas of O.T. scholarship.


Early printed texts (Special Collections), with some manuscripts C19/20 German-language scholarship.

General arrangement and access regulations

Classified, open access arrangement using GUL local classification. Older, unclassified material is being/has been transferred to the Historical Collection (remote store). Periodicals are arranged by broad subject classification (e.g. Oriental or Theology) and then by title. Some older periodical titles are also being transferred to remote store. Particular classification: Theology C.
