• Each search word is treated as a separate word, i.e. records containing all of the words entered in the query box will be displayed.
• You can search on a whole phrase by enclosing the phrase in double quotes, e.g. "japan times".
• You can use wildcards such as * and ? to replace one or more characters in the search term, e.g. "indi*" will find records which contain "india" or "indian".
• Only the title and varying title fields are searched in the quick search. For further search options, please use the advanced search.
• The holdings of the British Library Newspaper Library are not included in this database. You can access the catalogue here: British Library Newspaper Library.
